About This Event
How does meditation actually work? What is mindfulness? Where can you find real happiness?
On this weekend retreat an experienced Buddhist monk Ajahn Nitho will explore these questions and will guide the participants through the fundamental basics of Buddhist practice.
About the retreat
This is a meditation retreat aimed at everyone from beginners to More experienced meditators. Ajahn Nitho has taught many retreats in the Nordics and is known for his accesible and engaging style.
The teachings on the retreat are based on the earliest teachings of the Buddha. These are the Buddha's main teachings on ethics, meditation and understanding.
All of the teachings will be given in English. The schedule is flexible and everything on the retreat is voluntary. All participants can listen to their own needs, while we do offer a general schedule to follow.
On the retreat we will try to uphold silent atmosphere and it is recommended to keep the eight Buddhist precepts during the weekend.
The place and how to get there?

The venue is easily accessible from Helsinki with a bus which takes appr. 1 hour 30 min.

What to bring?
Please bring toiletiers, bedsheets and a towel.
The weather can be quite cold, so bring suitable clothes. We will offer everyone a meditation cushion and a sitting mat but if you want you can bring your own.
You can also take with you inspirational reading.
Noble silence
We will uphold noble silence during the retreat. Please try to minimize all talking in the common areas during the retreat.
Generosity
The retreat is organized by Dhamma Society of Finland, a young organization which tries to give everyone a chance to practice the Buddha's teachings in a Nordic setting.
There is no mandatory cost on the retreat, but organizing retreats is not cheap and takes a lot of work. Please consider donating to cover the costs. Organizing the retreat costs about 80 - 100 euros per person for the society but if you want to support what we do you can also donate more. We will give you the information on how to donate closer to the retreat.
