About This Event
SummerSapphic is a fortnightly gathering that is inclusive but centred on queer women. The first six sessions feature an enviable lineup of musicians who will perform from 4-6pm. Doors open 3pm, kitchen open till 9.30pm and bar open till 11pm. Come hang out, and meet some good peeps.
Baby Blue are a prolific Melbourne band who are emerging with a refined sound, some fresh faces, and their first full-length album. Beginning as a solo project fronted by Rhea Caldwell, Baby Blue is now a fully-fledged five-piece bringing new depth and energy to the raw yet playful story-telling that first endeared them to fans. Lead singer and songwriter Rhea Caldwell performs with an ease few can claim to possess. Their songwriting taps into 60s surf rock with a sprinkling of Americana and a healthy serve of indie pop. The result if a charming and considered concoction that's been likened to that of Kim Deal fronting the Velvert Underground.
Claire M Spooner has been playing in bands for the longest time throughout Castlemaine and Melbourne. Claire is a multi-instrumentalist, she has had duties on guitar, bass and drums in multiple outfits, writing and singing songs for her own band in the early-mid 2010’s, she has since had a break from performing and has only performed handful of shows post pandemic, whilst she has recently completed an (unreleased) album, this is a rare appearance. She will take to the stage solo with guitar and voice.
