Get ready for the Sicilia Social and Cultural Club’s Sicilian Short Film Festival!
Everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be Sicilian to enjoy this cultural afternoon, all non-English films have English subtitles.
Join us on Sunday 24 May (2.00pm arrival, strict 2.30pm start– 5.30pm) at Merlynston Progress Hall, 1 Novian Street, Coburg for a special afternoon celebrating Sicilian film, culture and community.
It’s a jam-packed afternoon featuring:
- A collection of Sicilian-themed short films from around the world, inc biographies, autobiographies comedy, drama, cinematic and documentaries
- Live poetry from Rosanna Morales (Cofounder of SACA), author of The Last Sicilian, and star of The Italian Divorce
- A screening of The Widow (rated M) with director Brendan Young, co-producer Catherine McQuade and executive producer Frank Lotito, who also stars in The Widow and The Italian Divorce, and directed the documentary film Pelligrinis – A Melbourne Legacy, attending to introduce the film.
Come along, enjoy the films, vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Award, and take part in our raffle with great prizes. Fresh popcorn, mixed mini cannoli and San Pellegrino soft drinks included with your ticket.

Parking & Access
Free street parking available around Merlynston Progress Hall, including Novian Street and surrounding residential streets. Parking also available near Merlynston Station, a short walk to the venue. Public transport: Merlynston Station (Upfield line) located nearby. Please allow a little extra time for parking and arrival.
