About This Event
<Reassembling Reality: 3D Scanning as Assemblage in Entangled Ecologies> is a workshop facillitated by _VOID that approaches 3D scanning technology as a critical and speculative practice.
Drawing on the concept of Dark Ecology by Timothy Morton, this workshop challenges familiar distinctions between nature and culture, human and non-human. We explore 3D scanning technology not merely as a tool of capture, but as a way of encountering the world’s entangled, often unsettling materiality, where presence is fragmented, and boundaries remain unstable.
Participants will be introduced to smartphone-based 3D scanning and the fundamentals of photogrammetry, while engaging with a broader ecological framework. Through hands-on experimentation with 3D scanning approaches and a field scanning session, we will reflect on the entanglement between humans, their traces, and the environments they inhabit, approaching 3D scanning as a way to perceive assemblages of human and non-human interactions, and to question whether this distinction can, or should, be maintained.
The workshop is designed for all curious minds. No previous experience is required.
To participate, you will need an Android or IOS smartphone with available space to download the app, and a registered Google account or any email.

About Nucleation Lab:
Nucleation Lab takes inspiration from the process of nucleation: the point of transformation of matter from one state to another. We are a platform for creative exploration at the intersection of art, science, and technology. We bring together artists, scientists, creative technologists, and hybrid practitioners to collaborate, experiment, and share ideas. We value experimentation and play as pathways to new ways of thinking and creating.
