The National Indian Film Festival of Australia (NIFFA) returns in 2026, continuing its journey as Australia’s leading platform celebrating the breadth and diversity of Indian cinema.
NIFFA brings together a curated selection of films from across India, spanning languages, regions, and styles. From mainstream spectacles to bold independent voices, the festival showcases stories that reflect the depth, complexity, and evolving identity of Indian filmmaking today.
The Perth chapter will be hosted at the State Library of Western Australia, featuring a curated line up of screenings, special presentations, and conversations.

1) Denied Justice: 14.03.1892 Denied Justice

Synopsis: In 1892, a caste-based conflict erupts in Tamil Nadu when a sacred stone idol is seized, disrupting a community’s right to worship. A century later, on the same date in 1992, the dispute resurfaces in violence leaving four people dead and a festival suspended in time. Decades on, justice remains unresolved, and the temple stands closed. Tracing this continuity, the film examines how history repeats itself where faith, caste, and memory remain locked in an unbroken cycle.
2) The Silent Applause:
