About This Event

The oldest free flying competition in the UK. First held in 1989, and still going strong! Five days of fun & adventure in the Lake District.

Tickets include free camping in Grasmere (Wednesday 17 June - Sunday 21 June), live entertainment, and a communal hot meal on the Saturday night. 

Paragliding pilots with ALL levels of experience are welcome. Our competitions range from serious VolBiv hike & fly, to guided coaching aimed at Club Pilots with low air-time.

If you just want to enjoy the facilities and go free flying, you are welcome too! There are many excellent sites for hike & fly in Grasmere, to suit different wind directions. All attendees will have access to our detailed flying guide for launch sites around the Grasmere valley. Come and challenge yourself! 

One of greatest things about paragliding is we can all fly together, new Pilots and old. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the most spectacular landscape in the UK. 

PLEASE NOTE - buying a competition ticket here does NOT guarantee entry. This ticketing page is just a simple way of taking payments for competition entry and also payments for camping, guests, and free-flyers who just want to come and enjoy the beautiful scenery. For competition places, you MUST apply also on AirTribune and be formally approved by the Flight Directors (Richard Bungay LCC, John Westall X-Lakes), before you have a confirmed place on any competition. This is non-negotiable and is for event safety. 

ALSO - due to recent BHPA Guidance, you will only be insured for XC tasks if you hold a valid Pilot rating at the time of the competition. Club Pilots (CP) can still take part in the Coaching Group, or informal Free Flying. If you currently hold a CP rating, you can still apply for the XC Competitions to secure a place, but to fly on the day you must have passed the BHPA Pilot Exam by 17 June 2025.
