About This Event
Imagine a time when you had no say. When your voice didn’t count.
When just because you were a woman meant you were worthless in society...
This evening local primary schools come together to celebrate REALÂ Change Makers. Pioneering figures from across Shepton Mallet and the south west
Who changed the course of history
Who stood up for what they believed in
Who dared to try and make a difference.
Make the Sunshine have worked across schools, running assemblies and workshops exploring these pioneering campaigners from throughout history. This evening you will see a range of dance performances from children aged 5+ including -Â St Paul's Junior School, St Aldhelms Church Primary School, Bowlish Infant School, The Mendip School, Croscombe Primary School and Stoke St Michael Primary School as well as The Make the Sunshine adult dancers bringing some of these local campaigners and pioneering figures to life.
This is the culmination of a wider project in Shepton Mallet supported and made possible by Historic England, Shepton Mallet Town Council, Wainwrights Quarry and others to commemorate the lives of Louie Hatfield, Annie Hyatt and Jean Garraway - three pioneering women who changed the course of history right here in Shepton Mallet.
