About This Event
Shropshire Blues & Roots at The Brewery with Chris Jagger Band supported by Blue Moon
Chris Jagger is a highly respected singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and storyteller whose lifelong passion for the blues has shaped a rich and eclectic career spanning more than five decades. Growing up in Dartford, Kent, he was immersed early in the raw sounds of American blues that continue to underpin his distinctive style today. He is also the younger brother of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, with whom he shares those formative musical influences, yet Chris has firmly established his own identity as a roots artist of depth and authenticity. Over the years he has released more than a dozen albums, both solo and with his band Atcha!, exploring blues, folk, Cajun, zydeco, country and rock ’n’ roll with warmth, wit and superb musicianship.
For live performances, Chris is often joined by musicians from Atcha!, a long-standing collective of outstanding players led by his close collaborator Charlie Hart on piano, accordion and fiddle. Together they create a vibrant, roots-driven sound that is both earthy and uplifting, blending traditional influences with original songs and engaging storytelling. Expect an evening of top-class musicianship, dry humour, fascinating anecdotes and songs steeped in history, heart and groove — a rare chance to experience an artist who truly embodies the spirit of blues and roots music up close and in an intimate club setting.
Blue Moon began life in 2018 as the house band of Shropshire Blues Club, founded by Mal Salisbury, Nick Hurt and Jack Brett. What started as a backing group for visiting artists quickly grew into a sought-after live act in its own right. Following several line-up changes, the band has evolved into a tight, seasoned ensemble and a much-loved fixture on the local music scene.
Today, Blue Moon brings together Tim Reece-Holloway (guitar, vocals), Malcolm Wragg (drums, vocals), Mal Salisbury (bass, vocals), Murray Orpin (alto sax) and Nick Hurt (keys, guitar, vocals). As hosts of Shropshire Blues & Roots Club, they anchor the region’s thriving roots scene while performing across The Marches and beyond. Their sound is an infectious mix of blues, soul and rock, delivered with warmth, musicianship and unmistakable chemistry that keeps audiences coming back for more.
