About This Event
Being with Grief, is a two-day workshop/retreat from Oct 24-25 for health professionals, facilitated by Greg Roberts, PhD and Andrea Bryk, RMT. We warmly invite you to join us to Explore, Experience and let grief Unfold for two gently held days that invite exploration, honouring and space, for diverse experiences of grief.
Life brings constant change, loss and grief and these are not always related to a death. Grief, needs time, space and community to unfold and open into the living of life within its wake. The intention of this workshop/retreat is towards self-awareness, presence, compassion and what allows us to live and work with grief.
Ways of being with people experiencing grief and loss – Presence and Attention
A key focus is the role of presence and where we place attention in ourselves, and with other people, experiencing grief. Participants will consider what is being called for in each encounter and how authentic presence can support connection, insight, and transformation.
Being with Grief offers a warm and reflective space to deepen your therapeutic presence, gently expand your understanding of grief, and connect with the heart of your professional practice. A part of this workshop/retreat we will invite you to explore how attending to your own experiences of loss may deepen the way you accompany clients and participants with greater presence, insight, and transformation.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
· Develop a stronger understanding of holistic approaches to grief and loss across personal and professional contexts.
· Experience and engage with whole person practices that are helpful when living with grief and loss
· Deepen their embodied sense of how presence and attention can support the integration of grief into daily life.
During the workshop, participants will be invited to:
· Bring meaningful personal and professional experiences into a reflective, supported and experiential learning space.
· Explore the experience of ‘being with’ and ‘placing attention’ through modalities such as Tai Chi, sound therapy, Thought Field Therapy (tapping), and empathic listening.
· Directly experience and explore empathic communication approaches that support grief with sensitivity and care both personally & therapeutically.
· Practise being present with grief, loss, and discomfort in ways that are grounded, respectful, and sustainable.
