About This Event
Alice Rodrigues started dancing forró in 2011 as a student of Pé Descalço. By the end of 2014 she was invited to become part of the team at PD where she teaches to this day. Throughout her nearly 14 years of forró not only has she taught but also earned her Red Necklace (the highest level within Pé Descalço), became an examiner and joined the PD official performance group. Alice has taught workshops in important festivals in Brazil such as Baile da Independência and Fenfit and also run courses for teachers in Brazil and abroad (online).
Alice also studied other dances such as gafieira, zouk, west coast swing and pole dance, which have all enriched her current techniques. Over the past 10 years as a teacher she has developed teaching methods for both followers and leaders, from functionality, musicality and complexity, to more subjective topics such as personal expression. Her expertise is mainly in forró universitario but also more recently in roots.
Throughout her career Alice has worked alongside great names such as Lucas Dumont, Felipe Raso, Luiz Henrique, Ícaro Abreu, Milena Morais, Juzinha and many others, which contributed significantly to consolidating her methods as a forró teacher.
Lucas Dumont started to dance forró at the age of 14 in 2006, and graduated from Pé Descalço in 2009. He became a teacher at the same school straight away. At Pé Descalço he participated in many groups and has many roles - coordinator of the examiners group, branch director, member of the performance group and most recently, teachers course instructor. Lucas has also learned other ballroom dances, done many workshops in other rhythms, increasing his dance knowledge in styles like samba and zouk, and also acquiring some experience in West coast swing, salsa, bolero and tango.
Lucas has taught in 10 different states within Brazil, and internationally in over 15 countries. Lucas believes in the diversity of dance, always studying to open more possibilities and improving the communication between couple dancing and the music, building a complete bond between these 3 elements.
