Join us for the ADEC Annual Conference, hosted by Kinma School in Terrey Hills, Sydney.

The Australasian Democratic Education Committee (ADEC) brings together educators, students and advocates of democratic and progressive education, fostering rich discussions, research, and a supportive network for like-minded individuals and institutions.

The conference begins with dinner at 5pm on Friday evening, followed by full days from 9am–4pm on Saturday and Sunday (25 Sept – 27 Sept 2026).

The 2026 conference will offer a nature-rich, reflective and creative space. We are pleased to welcome keynote speaker Nikki Brunker—university professor and long-term Kinma mentor and teacher—who will share insights on democratic education in schools.

Workshops will explore topics including democracy in action, report writing, children’s parliament and more. And of course, no visit to Kinma is complete without bushwalking and a shared meal by the fire pit on Friday evening.
