Join us for the Lake County DSA 2024 Steel Challenge on June 8th, 2024, at the Highland Springs Range. Check-in is from 7:00 am to 8:30 am. The safety briefing begins at 8:30 am, and the shoot kicks off at 9:00 am. Your registration includes one T-shirt, one lunch ticket, and entry into either the steel shoot or three-gun shoot. If you want to participate in a second shoot, it's an additional $10.00.
The Steel Challenge features various divisions, including Junior's (12-17 years), Women's Pistol, Men's Pistol, Combined Revolver, Law Enforcement, and Senior Pistol (65 Years+). All calibers must be greater than .22, except for Juniors who may use any pistol caliber. Juniors need a parent/guardian waiver, and Law Enforcement can only compete in the Law Enforcement Division.
The Steel Course involves shooting four courses of fire, with the total score being the combined time with penalties. The Jim Walker Three Gun Course is an individual event where competitors bring their own rimfire rifle, shotgun, and pistol. Only #2-7 bird shot is allowed.
An additional “The King of the Range” 50/50 Challenge has a $20.00 entry fee, with competitors shooting at steel plates from varying distances, if you miss you drop out of the challenge. Last one remaining wins half of the collected pot. Purchased at the event.
Awards include medals for the top shooter in each division, and division winners compete for the TOP GUN award.
The Steel Challenge Raffle features a 9mm SIG Pro P2022 or 9mm SIG P365 (California Compliant). Raffle tickets are $5 each, and need not be present to win. Contact any Lake County DSA member to purchase.
At the event, a separate Playing Card Gun Raffle is available for $20.00. Only 52 playing cards will be sold for this raffle. Purchased at the event.
A general raffle will be held at the event the day of. These tickets are $1.00 and include various prizes including firearms. Purchased at the event.
Additional T-shirts may be purchased. M, L, XL are $15.00, and XXL, XXXL are $20.00. Purchased at the event.
A BBQ TRI-TIP LUNCH, hosted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Management Association, will include sides, chips, and a drink. Additional lunch plates may be purchased for $10.00.
